Thank You to Zilker Park Clean-Up Volunteers!

Saturday, June 4th, IESI and Central Texas Secure Shredding brought together their GREEN TEAMS, and participated in a Zilker Park invasive species clean-up.  We removed Ligustrum variations from the the park because the local popultion of trees were having a hard time adjusting to the expansion of this invasive species.  Ligustrum is a hardy plant, grows very quickly, and produces thousands of seeds.  We had to remove trees in select areas to save some of the park's traditional species from being overtaken.

The volunteers who participated were from E-Corps, a division of American Youthworks, and local Austinites who decided to help.  We even had some runners stop and help us drag brush away.  We are very grateful for everyone's services!

After the clean-up, we, along with BMC Software and REI, sponsored a lunch consiting of Thundercloud Subs.  Thank you to everyone who participated in this event, and we hope to continue to provide more opportunities to get you hands dirty and volunteer for community programs in the future. We had a lot of fun and hope you can join us next time!

Here are a few pictures from the clean-up!
